How We Make a Dental Happy Visit Possible
At Simcoe Kids Dental clinic, Dr. Noah and our entire team are specially trained not just in dentistry but pediatric dentistry.
The difference? We know and love teeth, and we know and love kids! Put the two together, and you’ve got a dental care team who can not only make your kids’ visit to the dentist stress-free but actually enjoyable!
As the only dedicated pediatric dental clinic in Simcoe County, we have the formula to ensure a fear-free dental happy visit for your child. Because comfortable, happy visits to the dentist mean regular visits to the dentist, it helps to ensure a lifelong commitment from your child to looking after their teeth.
What does a dental happy visit look like at Simcoe Kids Dental?
Well, it starts with the understanding that dentophobia (fear of the dentist) is real. And it can be powerful. But we also know that it doesn’t have to be. We have a proper understanding of how to ensure it isn’t, starting at a very young age.
Our dedicated pediatric dental team, as well as our actual office space, is specifically designed to make children feel comfortable, at ease, even happy to be here! What’s more, Dr. Noah and the team are not only trained in caring for kid’s teeth specifically but also in child psychology. This is the key to each of our happy, positive interactions with your child, which, in turn, allows for the most effective dental care.
In short, we want your child’s teeth to be in great shape, and their mouth to be in ‘grin’ shape – every single time they visit us!
Parents also love the fact that we offer affordable dental financing through PayBright!
THE FACTS
WHY ARE DENTAL HAPPY VISITS SO IMPORTANT?
It’s simple: happy visits mean repeat, regular visits. Repeat, regular visits mean optimal dental care and health. Optimal dental health means keeping your own teeth well into old age and a lifetime of happy, pearly white smiles. And why are repeat regular visits (which are facilitated by ‘happy visits’) so key? According to the **National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research:
- Fact: **28% of kids aged 2 to 5 years have had dental caries (tooth decay and/or cavities)
- Fact: **51% of kids aged 6 to 11 years have had dental caries (tooth decay and/or cavities)
Fact: **23% of kids aged 2 to 11 have untreated dental caries.
Untreated, dental caries can lead to a mouthful of decay and further, related health issues, which can lead to complicated, invasive, expensive dental procedures down the road. None of which are something you or your child want. The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) advocates regular dental checkups every six months for your child – so why not make sure those dental happy visits?
WHAT HAPPENS AT A DENTAL HAPPY VISIT?
A happy visit is any visit to the dentist where your child is comfortable and at ease throughout, and leaves happy! So happy, in fact, that the next visit holds no fear for them, they may even look forward to it!
More specifically, bi-annual visits to our pediatric dentist for a checkup and deep clean may include checks for the following: tooth decay and cavities; loose, broken, chipped, or cracked teeth; gum health; filling damage; correct tooth spacing; signs of cancer, diabetes, and vitamin deficiencies; correct bite positioning and jaw joints; root and gum health (X-rays may be taken periodically); and anything else relevant to ensure your child’s best possible dental health.
Simcoe Kids Dental happy visits also work to teach and ingrain good oral health care habits in your child from an early age.
WHEN SHOULD HAPPY VISITS START?
You should book your child’s first dentist appointment within six months of their first tooth or by their first birthday. Making those visits happy visits from the get-go can facilitate a lifelong good relationship with the dentist, which can aid in lifelong great dental health!
A visit to Simcoe Kids Dental, no matter how young your child is, will never be scary: we offer a non-threatening environment with plenty of smiling staff providing wonderful distraction and positive interaction!
